New version of the LED lights

There are now two versions of the LED. This page will describe the new version of the lights, which was first introduced in spring/summer 2023 and will gradually become the standard. Updates will roll out over time for all existing devices, but it will take some time before the update reaches everyone. The update can only be performed while the device is online.

If you notice that your device uses different colors/patterns for the LED lights than described below, it's possible that your device still uses the previous version of the LED. A description of the previous version can be found here.


How the new lights work

The most significant difference from the previous LED version is that the new lights will now stay lit constantly as long as the device is in operation, to make it easier to know what state the device is in. The lights will also pulse with stronger intensity when HAN data is received.

  • Yellow light means the device is charging. This will occur, among other times, when you connect the device to the HAN port. In cases of poor coverage, it may need to recharge intermittently. During such times, it will disconnect from the network, start blinking yellow, and then reconnect once it has recharged.

  • Purple light indicates the device is connecting to the network.

  • Green light means the device is connected to the network. The device will now constantly emit a green light while in operation. The light will be perceived as pulsating since it will light up with brighter intensity at regular intervals when the device receives HAN messages.

  • White light indicates that an update of the device is in progress.

  • Dim red light indicates that the device is experiencing network issues. Please contact support for troubleshooting.

  • Bright red light means that the Wi-Fi device has not been set up with the customer's wireless network, and the device is not connected via USB (this applies only to Wi-Fi devices). The device must be connected via USB to complete the setup.

  • Blue light indicates that the device is in setup mode (this applies only to Wi-Fi devices).

  • No light can indicate that the HAN port is closed or that the cable is not securely connected.

The video below shows the device's operating pattern when connected to the electricity meter. The yellow light at the beginning will last longer than shown here, but the exact duration the device blinks yellow before connecting to the network depends on various factors, such as the type of electricity meter and coverage.
